The Redpoint 5KM FPV Optical Fiber is a tethered fiber-optic video and data transmission system engineered for professional drone operators requiring interference-free connectivity. By transmitting HD video and bidirectional flight control through a 0.26mm physical fiber link rather than radio frequency, the system removes susceptibility to RF jamming and signal congestion. The reel houses 5100m of G657A2 bend-insensitive single-mode fiber with a total weight of 0.65kg and exterior dimensions of 94mm×445mm. An integrated sky-end module is built into the reel housing, reducing installation steps on the aircraft. The system is positioned for close-quarters reconnaissance, indoor inspection, and operations in GPS-denied or electromagnetically contested zones where conventional wireless FPV links experience degradation or loss.

The system employs wavelength-division multiplexing at 1310nm and 1550nm over a single-mode single-fiber architecture. Measured light attenuation is ≤2dB at 1550nm and ≤3dB at 1310nm across the full fiber length. Composite video output supports NTSC, PAL, and SECAM standards, compatible with standard FPV monitors and recording equipment. Bidirectional data transmission operates at speeds from 0 to 1Mbps using the S.BUS protocol, delivering flight control commands from the ground station to the aircraft while returning telemetry. The fiber cable has a tensile rating above 50N and an outer diameter of 0.26mm, balancing strength with minimal aerodynamic drag. The ground module accepts external power via an XT60 connector supporting 3-6S lithium battery input, or an NP-F series battery dock.
Two ground-end connection modes are supported. Mode 1 uses a wireless configuration in which the Opticallink GBD ground unit connects to a separate video receiver and RC receiver. Mode 2 uses a direct wired configuration connecting the GBD unit to an RC transmitter and display monitor via the video output port. On the aircraft side, the sky-end module connects to the flight controller through the FC optical fiber port, with video input routed via the VGPGG5TR interface. OUT1 provides non-inverted S.BUS, while OUT2 provides standard inverted S.BUS; operators should select the output matching their flight controller input specification. Before first use, remove transport protection cable ties and four protective clips, then remove the carbon fiber retaining rod. Clean the FC connector with a fiber-optic cleaning pen. If measured optical attenuation exceeds -15dBm, operation is not recommended. Pay out the first 200 meters at reduced speed to avoid fiber stress.
This system is deployed by defense units, public safety agencies, power grid inspection teams, petrochemical surveyors, and industrial infrastructure firms that require uninterrupted video and control links in RF-congested or hostile environments. Manufacturing is ISO 9001 certified with an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 units, supporting OEM, ODM, and volume procurement for enterprise customers worldwide.
The package contains the fiber reel with integrated sky-end module, the Opticallink GBD ground module, a BNC power cable, and a video receiver module. An NP-F960, F970, F980, or F990T compatible battery is required for the ground module but is not included.
The system interfaces with flight controllers equipped with an FC optical fiber port. S.BUS output is available in non-inverted (OUT1) and inverted (OUT2) configurations to accommodate different flight controller input requirements.
The reel supplies 5100m of fiber cable. The ground module itself supports single-mode fiber transmission up to 60km, so the 5100m reel length determines the maximum operational radius.
Both the sky-end and ground-end modules feature LED indicators for power (PWR, red), optical fiber connection (LINK, orange), video signal (VIDEO, blue), and data signal (DATA, green), allowing operators to verify link status at a glance.
